I get to the course yesterday afternoon and not a single person is playing. It is drizzling a little and I hear low rumblings of thunder in the distance but I decide to play anyway. I hole a sand wedge from 82 yrds on the 1st hole for an eagle and then chip in for eagle on the 2nd hole. I birdie a tough par 3 third hole and also birdie the 4th. I'm on the green putting to go 7 under after 5 when the skies open up and lightning is everywhere. I definitely had a vision of the priest in caddyshack. Fortunately there is a shelter house close to the 5th so I take refuge and wait it out unscathed. It didn't last long and I actually made that putt, but then pissed out for the rest of the round and finished with a 67.

Nice.

Played Tanners Brook and shot even par 71. -2 34 on the front and +2 37 on the back thanks to my one really bad swing of the day OB for a double bogey. Really swinging well right now (knock on wood.) PXi shafts in irons are tasty.  popcorn

After a 3 week hiatus from the 70's finally played to  a 77 with a triple and no birds...  I lost $68 to my 200 yard driving buddy who got up and down everytime he needed to and shot 72.  It's been a while since i've won money on the course...  I think i need to stop betting

I'm really starting to like the i20 driver

i played today and got a free lesson...yup, a 2-some I hooked up with at the turn had a lesson giver in the group......after i drove one 285 yards on a 290 yard hole, he told me how to chip from off the green because he learned it from his Tom Watson DVD...the most amazing thing is, he did it for FREE......so  I thanked him after lipping my birdie putt for the invaluable lesson......just think if i had used the lesson BEFORE I took my chip from off the green , I could have been 1 foot away insead of the 3 feet that I had left....why were these guys not on the FIRST tee when I needed them??

Played today with one of my best friends from high school who now runs a large Windstream wireless company out of Kentucky, said something like 1200 employees under him with 2 sons playing for various Kentucky university schools. One of them won that Pebble Beach 1st Tee tourney with a Champion Tour player 2-3 years ago. First time I've played with him in over 15 years and it was a great day.

Shot a 72 w/2 birdies, 2 bogeys and along with a 6 packer. Hehe.

Played today. Started off bogey, bogey, bogey. Drove the 4th hole a 327 yard par 4 then missed 8 foot eagle putt and nearly 6 foot birdie putt.  laugh

Cut the corner on par 4 8th hole and drove green to 20 feet. Missed 8 foot birdie putt. Whats that thing they say about not practicing?

Only played 9 holes.  big_giggle

Played yesterday at The Links at Northfork. Hadn't played for a week with all the rain we've had.  Roll Eyes +2 38 on the front and+5 41 on the back. Course was pretty wet/sloppy. Felt like I shot a 90. Not one birdie. Chipping was good. Irons obviously were not. Tried the VR Pro Ltd driver and 3W with UST VTS shafts. Driver is promising. 3W is one hard little bastage to hit. NOT forgiving.   shocking

Sought revenge on the course. Shot 35 on front and 46 on back nine. Back 9 was really narrow and the 5.5 hour round got under my skin.

Played yesterday in a decent wind, but the sun was shining. Well, not on my game.

Shot a ho-hum 37 on the front with one blemish 3-putt bogey. (Approach shot left on wrong tier - ridiculous). Started the back with a bogey, topped that with a double at 11 and a triple on the par 5 12th. (Tee shot (with an iron russian) in the bush, drop, lay up, pulled approach into weeds, drop, chip, two putts). Nice.

Then, just to punch myself in the nuts even more, I drove the green on th 13th par 4 and eagled it with a 45 foot snake. Birdied the next, three straight pars and hit an approach on 18 to an inch for a kick in birdie.

What a stupid game.

Played today, 55* and wind blowing out of the Northwest about 25.

Killed a drive off the tenth hole... 210.  One of the longest drives I have hit this year - if measured by time in the air.  No pop up either!

(Course, I also nailed one 265 - downwind.  Distance is so situational.  Don't you just hate that?)

Shot 81 - didn't make a thing, tough to hit the ball near the hole with the wind.  Playing lousy lately.  What am I gonna do?

Play more!

Shot 81 yesterday but it sure felt better than that.   I guess a 7 on the par 3 2nd probably didn't help.

On another note: since putting the shotmaker in my i20 the left side is completely out of play; maybe it's a scam but if it "rights" my brain then it works.

Played Chaska Town Course today for one of my "free" birthday rounds. $16 for a cart fee was all that was required.
Tough course. Co-hosted the U.S. Publinks a few years ago. I play it once a year for this free round since it's a trek to get down there, and it's usually $80 or so bucks a round with a cart. Finally got into the 70's with a 79 on this course. Not much to write home about on my play. One birdie on 18 where I went for it in two and got up and down. Paired with some nice guys today, but two of them were really bad and REALLY drunk the whole time. Nicest day of the year weather-wise though, so I was in no hurry for it to end.
Don't want to take the ZL Encore out of the bag.  Had a couple 320-ish shots today with it. So forgiving.  zchange

Ended up playing a course called Bentwinds Country Club in Fuquay Varina.  Yes, I know, there are many jokes about the name of the city and surprising most have something to do with Rock's sister.  Anyways, this was another Golfweek Amateur Tour event.  The course was in very good condition with firm and fast greens (about a 10), and lush fairways.  I had never seen this course before, so I was trying to play a bit conservative.  Ended up shooting 37-36=73 with 4 birdies, a double, 2 x three putts, and 2 missed 5 footers.  I ended up tying for first in the Championship flight and had to go to a playoff.  It took 6 holes, since my putting and my competitors putting was so bad, for me to win. Ended up winning on a par 3 where I stuck a 7 iron from 177 to 18 inches.  It was nice to win that way.

Glad to hear you played well Jim, back when I lived in NC I had a buddy who was a member there.  The course was funky but always in nice shape with very good greens.  A lot of dog legs and water that takes the Driver out of your hand and some nice risk reward holes that could pile on the numbers if you weren't careful.  You can score there if you play to the yardages.
