Hey all, my name's Thomas and I'm a TaylorMade junkie! I am open to other clubs, and have bought many different brands over the yaers but always come back home to TM. Burners are what I am looking for now, to replace my r7's. I am into photograpy, hunting and fishing when I am not golfing.

Hello all. For those of you who don't know me, my name is William and I'm 22 years old. Currently a senior in college and a golf nut. Putters are my vice, but I will ho out pretty much anything. Been lurking a bit, but like the posting here so I plan on getting a bit more involved here.
I would say your an all around ho from looking at your posting over on WRX and some other sites. Welcome to the board.

Hoot-ster, I am just now finding the time to post here. Busy on special clubwork in this end of Nov. which is unusual for me here in Bloomington, IN. Sent a set of irons, and a 12* driver out today for a group heading to the tournament in Myrtle Beach this week. Go figger? I woulda thought I was in hibernation by now. Smiles and thanks for hosting this forum, Dave AKA: Mad Honk

Hi, My name is Greg. I found this site when BSG went dark. Great find!
I am a 7-something. I always wanted to teach this game, but never felt I was good enough. Now that I'm 56 and still a 7, I may give it a try. I have a friend from college who was never any good, and at my 30th reunion I found out he was a pro. I cut fairways this past summer and even though I was making squat, i loved being around a golf course. All my life I have thought golf 24/7, except when I was thinking windsurfing or snowboarding.
I've got an MBA and an accounting degree, and I don't like being an accountant. I wouldn't mind being an accountant for a golf course, though.
I have spent way too much money on equipment. But this I know: Good component driver heads are probably the best way to go for the person looking for the ultimate driver. Heads are heads, except that SMT, Geek and Wishon are as good as anything that the major retailers provide. Once you go there, you can have lots of fun exploring different shafts. Driver heads are very important; but once one finds a good model, the differences between different heads from the same factory are a lot less than the differences in shafts.
I just ordered a half set of hickory shaft clubs, and I would like to play in hickory shaft tournaments before I die. I have a few hickories and have played with them before, but I decided to get serious about hickory shaft golf.
For awhile after college I was pretty good - got down to 4, qualified and played in a NYS Amateur, and lost the club championship in a nine-hole playoff, after finishing 3rd and 4th in the two previous years. Then I bought MacGregor blades and new woods, and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. There is something to be said for getting to know a set of clubs intimately. With the previous set, i could tell you that 9 times out of 10 I could hit the 3-iron straight, the 4-iron and 6-irons had a slight fade, and my 9-iron was better after I extended it a 1/4 inch. I had a 1-iron that I could stripe, and a 2-iron that was terrible. So, I got rid of the 2-iron.
I could never putt. Made some putts in the afore mentioned tournaments, but usually my putting was nothing special. Good at lagging, but never could make a 10' putt to save par. but, I used to hit a lot of greens. Sometime after I turned 30 I got the yips big time. My hands froze during the backswing. I would either leave them 10' short or knock them over the green. After time, I learned that it ran in the family. Because of the putting woes I got into windsurfing in a big way, which was great for staying in shape. But, I always kept coming back to golf. Lefthand low, Bernhard Langer style, whatever, I could still be helpful in a better-ball or a scramble.
One day I tried side-saddle. On about the third green that I tried it, i made a 40-footer. Golf was fun again. I've been putting that way for 6 or 7 years now, and I can compete a bit again. I don't make 40-footers all that often, but I generally make one or 2 15-footers in a round, and I'm good from 6' again.
I have a daughter and a son, both grown up. My son is in his last year of college. Neither have a passion for golf, and I'm OK with that. I love them both. My daughter calls me every-other day because we have the same sense of humor, and I love that. Just spent Thanksgiving with my son's girlfriend's family - what a trip. I got divorced when my ex started beating me at golf - there were a few years when I couldn't break 90 because i had the driver and the putter yips. The longer I am divorced, the more i appreciate my ex.
Got my driver straightened out about the time i discovered SMT. Got it even more straightened out when an older guy taught me a new backswing, and they say you can't teach an old guy new tricks!
Even though I have lost a lot of money, I consider myself a lucky guy. I have had the opportunity to play a lot of great courses - i'd love to be a course architect. I have a passion for golf again, and life is good. Life is getting simpler, equipment choices are getting simpler. I just hope that I can find a way to work around the game, because i love everything about it, and it is sort of in my blood, or my heart, or something.
If you've read this far, thanks for putting up with me! I'll try to be helpful in sharing my experiences.

Name is Paul. Worked in the golf industry for about 6 years now. When I turned 21 I decided to play some golf on the mini tours and was picked up by Bridgestone. Was never my goal to play on the mini's so I did it for 2 years and was hired on at the Bridgestone R&D to design golf clubs. Really loved the job as I was able to do it out here in CA. As Bridgestone grew here in the US they wanted to move the office back East to GA, and that was just a bit too far for me to go.
So, I left Bridgestone after 3 great years and continue to work in the golf industry for another company. Still love playing and carry a +1 when I do get to play. I love everything about golf. I have been looking for a good site to post on and this one looks great. Looking forward to making new friends and pick up some more info about the game, equip, etc.
Thanks all!

Been coming to this site off and on for a bit. This site seems to be friendly and the sarcasm is light and in jest, not personal and nasty As for me, Club hoing days are pretty much over, but I still like to try all the new gear... just in case

I am Isaac from Boone NC I go to Appalachian state and I have been playing golf since I was 7. I work at a golf course and don't get to play nearly enough. If anyone is from or near the mountains of NC let me know and we can tee it up.
