My conclusion is:  I'm keeping my 5 iron at D7.  The rest of my irons I've heated the lead tape and removed enough to make each iron from 6-PW a D2.  The D7 for the rest of the irons only made me lose distance....perhaps 5 yards.  For some reason I don't hit my 5 iron fat or thin as much when the swing weight is high therefore I'm leaving them that way.  The experiment wasn't a total bust.  After I got used to the extra swingweight I didn't like it so much.

Yeah, well that's good you found that out.  You never would have known if a heavier swingweight would help you if you didn't try it.  With golf equipment, and especially customization, there's a lot of trial and error.  I like the lighter swingweight much better than a heavier swingweight.  It just feels good to me.  Good luck, and keep hitting them well!   clapping

Yeah, that reminds me of a story about a 983K I had one time.

I was so excited... I had just received my 983K/Speeder 661 stiff from Titleist.  As luck would have it, Titleist of course installed a standard Speeder 661 ALL the way into the clubhead.  I even called them to ask if they could just install it 2"...  no can do.

I was expecting it to be pretty stiff...  but oh man. It was off the charts stiff!!

Anyways...  to try to soften it up a bit, I put GOBS of lead tape on the head...  it was pretty funny.  I'll bet it was past the D range, it was so friggin' heavy.

It was like swinging a freaking howitzer.... but felt horrible.

Me and that driver just never got along..  nothing but low and right.  WAY too stiff for me.

Anyways...  at least you only used lead tape.   emot-angel

The game of golf is played pin high!!  If anything, take one more club.  Far too many golfers never hit their approach shots even remote close to the green.

Ooooooh, custom clubs.......

This is great stuff, and now you've got me thinking of tinkering with the swingweight of all my irons.  Lead tape, here I come!

Haha, yea.  That's gotta be fun stuff and very helpful for your game when you find the right weight I'm sure.
