Fairways hit: 8

Before I install my 540 S, I need to ask you: what's your swingspeed, and what kind of swing do you have (long and smooth, quick and short, very fast or slow at the top, etc.)  Thanks!!

How much are these shafts and where can you buy them? I would love to try one.

Talk to Ken at LowPro, he has these shafts and some great prices too!

I've seen them run between $45-$75.  An absolute steal for the performance they give.

Dang, that is cheap for such a high quality shaft.  That is impressive.

Well, I got mine installed and out on the course this weekend... I can still see a slight yellow line everywhere I look, I think it is burned in to my retinas...  Unfortunately, I did not have any time to hit it before my round, so it took a few holes to get a feel for the changes, it is heavier, lower torque, and a softer flex than what it replaced... all in all it felt pretty good... by the end of the day I was hitting more fairways (4 out of 7 on the back)... I think with a little more time on the range with it, it should work out nicely...

Which one did you win, which flex and was it tipped?

My 540 S is just sitting here.  More than a foot of snow is on the ground and no prospect of a southern vacation.  I guess I'll have to live vicariously!

WoooWeee!  The UL640 in my SMT DB455 is awesome.  It is the longest driver I've hit....period!  But maybe my swing is just working well at the moment....don't think so though.  I love the color!  The combination is visually loud.  The shaft has a nicer feel than the UL540 I have in my 915cfe.  For a 55 gram shaft you can swing hard and it holds up.  It's very straight.  It's my new favorite shaft.   Roll Eyes

That's wonderful to hear.  Congrats on the new club!

I didn't win it, I actually bought one, its a 540, R flex, not tipped.

I might have to try one of these out... too bad I've never actually seen one in real life... but I'm loving my accuflex right now, especially if that simulator at work is right Tongue

From what you say, you should probably stay with your current shaft.  I only changed because the V2 was a little whippy for my taste and while the V2 is a solid shaft, I probably needed an X in it.  My limey plays right around what I'd call an X and I love it.  But, if you do think about changing, the limeys are nice and smooth.  I'd like to try one in a smaller headed driver like an R7, though - you would probably have some amazing control with it.  It's one of the sweetest looking shafts out there, too.  When I had it installed all the guys in the shop came over and fondled it and hit it, and I always get tons of good comments on it.

I think the color is good. The VS339 I have is Red and White and it doesn't bother me at all. Once you get used to it it's second nature and I think having a black shaft is kinda boring... Besides people always go, oh he's got some crazy shaft, lets watch him duff it, POW

Yeah, that's my favorite one when I'm fourth off of a teebox when I'm playing as a single.  The looks on their faces as your ball takes aerial photography of theirs is priceless.

I played last week on a wet course and I drove the ball into places I never see in the summer time with hard fairways shocking
This shaft Kicks like a mule bbad
I am looking for another driver so I can slap another 540 tipped about 1/2" in it.

Could have been a little more tongue in cheek oih?  rofley rofley

What you think in this shaft attributed to the xtra in length? Can you describe the launch and spin ..?

Any body tried the 680 yet  on a driver? do they perform the same on a launch monitor ?

Very tempted to give it a go in my R5 ... u reckon i should give it a go? I'm smoothened up the swing alot,, i bet i can take a 540 in a heartbeat.

currently playing a diamana 83R  tipped 3/4 inch .. pretty good. And an 75S V2 abt the same,, prefer diamana

I had been using evolutions that were cpm'ing in the high 260's and were really butt stiff and some were ending up in the high X range.
I dropped down to a normal S flex with the with the Limey and my G2 ( which is a rare lofted 10° with a 10° loft instead of a 13° )
I play the same 2 courses all the time so I know where my drives always end up at and were they have been with my longest drives, some have been with the R5 and others with a Launcher 460 ( with a Blue ).  I was putting the G2 well past those distances with a high flat carry that hit running.
The Limey really feels like a Diamana, the Limey UL540 has a really low torque ratting of 2.5 so even if it feels soft its not and kicks like crazy.
chtw can compare it to a V2
I have just picked up a 580XD tour that I am planing on sticking another Limey in as a test.

Well, I've got about 6 rounds under my belt with the Limey, so here are some impressions...

The long and short of it, I am longer and in the short grass more often... my driving distance average is up by 9 yards, and my fairways hit is up by 10%... I was surprised by the fairways number as I felt the troque was kicking my butt every now and again, but I guess there is something to be said for concentrating on closing the club face...

It feels great, nice and smooth... the lunch angle is about the same as the shaft it replaced (stock r7HT shaft), but it does not balloon like the old one, just a nice ballistic ball flight, giving some extra roll that I was not getting with the old...

I get a lot of looks on the tee box, as it is quite the eye catcher... yesterday, on the first tee, I was the last to tee off (after eveyone else had put theirs into the woods)... so up I walk with the light saber and rip one about 290 right down the middle... the starter, who hung around to watch the festivities, could only gawk, then finally asked what the shaft was, and where to find one (plug for LowPro given)...

All in all, very happy with the shaft, and considering one for the 3-wood too.
