This is just a all Black R7 460 TP right ?
The retail R7 425 rocks the house compared to its TP version and blows the R7 460 out of the water, so why a black R7 460 ?
[/quote

Does the R460TP have 4 weightports? I haven't been keeping up with TM drivers. The last TM driver I had/still have is the R7TP 400cc.

the r7 460 only has 2 weightports, and 3 if you consider the central plug a weight...

The 460 was also garbage regardless of the shaft.  Either way I think the 460 quad will probably be a flopper as well. zchange

The 425 blows it out of the water.  Do not go on the hype of the other website.  They launch ridiculously higher, spin way too much, but hey what do I know.  It's different strokes for different strokes.  Seriously though look at the acceptance it received on tour.  That is a pretty good indicator of how good it is not.  I have seen a top 30 player in the world try it and sit there and tell me it was garbage.

I would agree that it doesn't seem very impressive. A guy I know - also trying to be a pro - recently bought one. I got to try it out just after he bought it. He had a ReaX 65X in it, and swinging it felt ok, but I can tell you that I hit my SQ clone farther than he or I could hit the 460. Could just be the shaft, but I doubt it. I don't really want to tell him my clone will outdrive his OEM, especially with how much he spent.

Pretty. Very pretty. No way will I pay that much for 1 single club.   shocking  TM is out of their minds.

"Includes a 1st Edition/TP Shield decal on the toe, a 1st Edition black magnetic headcover, a 1st
Edition black MWT ™ ™ case, a 1st Edition black MWT torque wrench and a 1st Edition MWT manual."

All of this swanky 1st Edition black stuff doesn't even sway me.

Unfortunately for me, the first edition and limited stuff is what gets me every time. I like 'rare' things. I think it'll sell out. I'll pass this time though.

Very pretty driver, but if it has the same (or very similar) playing properties as the 460TP it's not going to suit me at all. As already mentioned, the 425 is a fantastically performing driver (need more spin? Try a higher loft or stick the weights forward), and looks like it might be a bargain soon as the ho's dump it in favour of this new model.

Interesting that TM have not yet released or even announced anything that jumps on the square/high MOI shape bandwagon. Whether it is snake oil or not, it's going to be the marketing 'thing' for 2007.

Just think of all of the weight ports that they could put in a big square driver.

If you need spin then I think the 460 would be ok then.  The R5tp is a cheap alternative as they have dropped in price.  I used a 7.5 R5 tp with a blueboard in it and hit it just as long as anything else.

IIRC, you can just use a Torx 25 bit.  I find the TM wrench awkward with the handle.  But, the TM wrenches are designed like torque wrenches, they will snap so that you do not over tighten the screws.

And while I'm thinking of it:

I don't have a TM MWT club, but I've seen people looking to buy the wrenches, which seem really overpriced to me.  Don't they use a standard star-shaped bit?

If so, go to the hardware store and get a star-shaped bit for an electric or ratchet screwdriver, then get a snowboard pocket tool like this for cheap:

They can be had for $5 - $10

(of course, if you just spent $800 +tax on 1 club, you're probably not too concerned about the extra $40 for the wrench kit.)

Wow.  I can't believe TM is coming out with a new driver...and it starts with R7   shocking  Is the well drying up or what?  When did the original R7 come out?  I really like the paint job that they have put on the R7 460 and the meaningless weight port they added that won't have a noticeable effect on ball flight.  How many R7's have come out since the original?  Talk about piggybackin' your own design to death.

I will not pay $800 for a club.  Hell, my whole bag barely cost that much.

I don't really see how this is an improvement over any of the other models.  I guess it's for collectors, and people who have to have the latest and greatest.  I do dig the black paint scheme, however.

This is funny. iremeber when the R510 TP was supposed to be alimited edition at first.  Once they realized people would pay that much money for it, they sell a million of them.
