I had a set of Ping ISI's custom-fitted to me (green dot, +3/4", 2° up) at a course close to Pumpkin Ridge about 6 years ago. Always wanted a set of Pings, and loved them to death. However, I went thru a patch of hitting my iron shots "thick" (not "fat" - let's try to be politically correct here!) earlier this year, and convinced myself that they were too heavy for me.
Anyway, went out and demo'd a bunch of sticks, and ended up buying a brand new 3-PW set of X-14's (white, +½") off eBay, that included a new Forged+ SW & LW for $395. Sold my well used Pings the same way the following week for $350, and couldn't be happier. The Forged+ wedges provide the feel that the Ping wedges had. The lack of feel on partial shots with the stock X-14 PW is the only downside to the Callaways, IMO.
Otherwise, I think that the X-14's are much more forgiving all thru the set. Long irons are a breeze to play too. I can't always bend the ball out of trouble like the Ping long irons could, but overall I'm really glad that I made the switch.
Don't hit 'em fat anymore, that's for sure!
