I am sure many have heard stories about Davis Love big heart.  Well I have a few buddies that caddy at a few big courses locally here in SC.
One of the guys house recently burnt down and he lost his clubs.  He is a + golfer, a real good golfer and word got back to Davis and he got hooked up !
Davis gave him his backup bag shok with Proto Driver, proto 3 wood, Proto 695 MB's, wedges, putter, and staff bag dribble
I hope to play golf with the guys later this week and will get some pics of it all, unless he sells it by then, he just got a $10K offer for them.

My oh my...the possibilities!! Thats why Davis is one of my favorites.  I got to meet him at the 2003 US Open and he seems like a genuine person.

I heard a guy at the memorial talking about seeing DL3 in Dublin signing autographs and giving sleeves of balls to this little league team in the lobby.  He's a good guy.

Sorry to dissent my dad played in the Pro Am of the World Cup held in Mission Hills in the mid 90's where DLIII and Couples represented the US. He was very disappointed in the way DLIII acted towards all the non caucasian fans. Couples however was the freindliest guy in the entire tournament and he was at the top of his game during that time.

I'm not accusing you of lying, but that is hard for me to believe.

I agree.  Not saying you are fibbing, just hard for me to see him that way.  Now Freddy....I have seen him be an ass, but I still like him!

Why would I fib about something like that? My dad and a team of amatuers representing our country, the Philippines were there for the entire tournament. This was the year Phillip Morris was the sponsor of the World Cup.

Maybe DLIII was having some problems that we don't know about that week, but my dad's story still is it was practically impossible to get DLIII to chat with you or even say hi to you unless you were fair skinned. Maybe he was afraid of contracting some exotic disease? All the players (Ams and Pros) were all housed in the Mission Hills complex and every night you could see all the players and mingle with them. My dad and his freinds have one picture with DLIII but it was only after they had a pic with Freddie and asked Freddie if they could get a pic with DLIII as well because they were ignored the first time.

There were so few people there that week so I don't think having that many people around is an excuse either. This was a time when Mission Hills was only two courses, China was still just opening up to the world. There were hardly any fans at the course because noone in China played golf then. In fact my dad said they were transporting spectators from the nearest major city just to have people there during the playing days. These people would show up in suits and high heels because they had no idea what golf was. There were even fans who would pick up the players balls even they landed near them in the rough, wait for the player to come over and hand it to them.

Freddie and DLIII won the Cup that year. DLIII won individual honors beating a Japanese player.

Side note. My dad played with Retief in the Pro AM!!!! Not a real big name then so my dad only has 3 pics with him and no autograph. Retief was on the heavy side back then and was a huge bomber.

I have two things to say. Firstly i hope your friend doesn't sell those clubs. That is almost a slap in the face to Davis who gave him the clubs out of the kindness of his heart. He could have easily just gave him money, but decided it would be a better show of kindness to give him limited edition Davis Love golf clubs.

Secondly, i have been to Ryder Cups and have found Davis to be no more outgoing towards the fans than anyother players, including Tiger. I agree with the guy that says Freddie is a great guy, when i was talking to him he talked to me like an equal, not down to me like he was a "celeb" and i was just an average joe.

Love Couples!!!

He was already offered $10K for them and said no.
He wont even reshaft them, they are freaking 2x4 shafts and 3/4 over standard length.
