Hello,

I am looking for suggestions on the best hole to have a nearest the pin competition (ON a SIM), the sim I will be using will be a Fullswing golf sim.

So if you know the machine and the courses could you please chuck some suggestions at me.

I am currently thinking Pebble Beach, but this probably because it was in the most recent US OPEN.

The hole has to be reachable by 95% of golfers so looking at 160 yards as a max

I look forward to suggestions!

thanks

I definitely second hole #7 from Pebble Beach.  If you can choose the pin position, put it where they had it on Sunday behind the right side bunkers.  You could also use #17 on TPC Sawgrass if they have it.  Again, Sunday pin position.

I would go with #17 at TPC Sawgrass as well. One of the most iconic and easily recognizable holes. Also, if there is a great par 3 at a local course you could use that. A golf show here did that.

The issue i have with the 7th at Pebble is that it plays too short - although I suppose I could have it into the wind.

Have you played any par 3 comps?  which hole etc?

It just seems too obvious (This may because the correct answer SHOULD be obvious!)

The tournament will be running in lots of places so using a local hole is not an option, although someone did suggset AUGUSTA 12th, although that course is not on the sim, the finals will allow nearest the pin winners to play the course the 12th at Augusta copied!

Strange coincidence.

Thing is, even though the 7th at Pebble only measure 105 on the card (I think), it's not an easy hole.  Like you said, adjust the wind to be coming in to their faces, which is very realistic, or have it swirling as it does most of the time and it's not such an easy hole.  If you watched the US Open, Harrington is the only person I saw go toward the pin and even then he zipped it back to where he was something like 15-20 feet away.  IMO, if I were competing in this, I would want to play a hole that is #1) easily recognizable, #2) sneakily difficult, and #3) a hole I would likely not get to play for real!

Just curious, you said something about getting to play a course that copied Augusta #12, is it in Myrtle Beach by chance (World Tour Golf Course)?

The concern with 7 is for peope who have to hit say a 6 iron on as the ball needs to stop - its nearest the pin so lack of power should not be too much of a factor in determining your chances- I think I will try 7 at Pebble, chip a 5 iron on to the green with the green set to soft, back left pin and right to left wind.
