 So that's why I'm so hard on myself, yet usually beat people I play with..and think I'm not that good 
heh, maybe..    
  And yes swing instructions I give back if they say something out of the blue...usually point them to the hazard and say..just don't hit there..if you hit there its no good. Then they look at me knowing I'm kinda joking..but also not

I am still in the 18 handicap range and trying to get it down lower, but I have given advice to low handicappers before, but only because they have asked if I "saw" anything in their swing.  I didn't give them any advice that I was unqualified to give, just simple things I saw such as coming from outside to inside on a particular swing, nothing on how to fix it as they should be the ones figuring that out!

While I was on the range one day, a jr. golfer getting abused by his father (a 15+ hdcp..). After every shot, he would give ranting instruction to the point where it was embarassing me. Talking about angles, swing plane, wrist and hip position...

I knew them both well, and, when i asked the dad about his golfing abilities, he said my favorite line from the archive of high handicap tip giving - "I know the golfswing, but i can't make myself do it."

Then i said, "So your basically a vegetarian telling your kid how to cook a steak?"
