Nippon 950's might be a good alternative.  I have a set with Nippon 1050; they feel smooth and have a nice kick.

What are you playing now?

I went with 75 gram shafts. It's worked out very well. My iron's swingweight is D2.

Ask Frank about Aerotech Steelfibers - graphite core with micro steel strands surrounding the graphite - best of both worlds - try the 95g, although they do have a 110g. They tend to run a little stiff to typical flex. It's best to have someone install who has experience with them.

I made the switch to graphite from steal because I prefer the way graphite felt. Plus I was tired of swinging such heavy steel shafts that I have greatly enjoyed the reduction in weight. I now play 85 gram iron shafts which are working out very well. I still have steel shafts in the wedges, but even those are at risk of getting changed to graphite too. Try some different weights in graphite shafts and find what suits you best.

I second taking a look at the steelfibers in graphite.

I had 2 done by frank in some scratch wedges and the feel was awesome.   If i ever need to switch to graphite in the irons, these would be the ones i would choose. FWIW, i had the 110 X flex in my wedges.

I bet the 95's would be right up your alley Doc.

Another vote for Aerotech.  Replaced 5i - 9i last year with i95 and replaced PW - SW this year with i110cw.  Dispersion is just as good or better than steel and the feel is amazing!!  I can play 36 holes with no stingers or sore elbows.  The Aerotechs respond well to both a smooth or aggressive swing.  The gray color gives you the look of steel if you are worried about being labeled "an old man".

Shaft technology has come a long way and more attention is being given to iron graphite shafts after years of focusing on driver shafts.  Don't make the mistake of labeling these with the old graphite iron shafts or current OEM graphite iron shafts.

A common mistake is making so much of a change that it throws your swing off. Meaning many go from 120g steel to 75g graphite. Also usually a 1/2in longer to bring the swingweight back. These are drastic changes and could cause one issues.

AeroTech Steelfiber at 90g would be a good choice.

I have a set of irons with the i110cw Aerotechs in them.  They are really good shafts, and I like them.
