The new synthetics that dry out quickly when you're on the course and don't stink coming out of the dryer. Seriously, when the new synthetics - clima-cool, dri-fit, and others of the same nature -- made their debut -- some retained odor. Most of them have evolved where that doesn't occur -- so buy new. laugh

Go for a light and layered look so you can shed clothes as the day heats up.
Go for synthetic undies -- cottons will leave you embarrassed when you're walking in the heat -- and you're wearing light-colored shorts. I'm sure there's more.

I like shirts with a cotton/poly "wicking" blend if I can find them. The all poly ones, to me, seem to wash up OK and smell fine afterward, but they seem to stink as soon as you start to sweat.  Roll Eyes big_giggle (Maybe that's just me!)  Roll Eyes

Pants- microfiber/wicking is the way to go.

Are you sure the "stinky" problem was the clothes?  cheesyf

Sorry, set yourself up for that one.

I look for one thing: Cutter & Buck on sale at TJ Maxx, Ross, etc. C&B are very consistent in their sizing, so I don't worry about a medium in one style being a small in another. Also, when I wash my …excuse me, when my wife washes my C&B polos, the collars stay as new and don't curl up.

I look for anything that is below $25.  I just can't see myself paying full price for a shirt.  I usually go to the end of year sales and buy stuff when it is 1/2 off or more.

under armour baby...under armour...never realized that for a few extra pennies a golf shirt will actually stay dry and not sag off of you on a hot summer day like your wearing a used dish towel...played in Myrtle Beach last year on a 90+ day and the shirt dried itself all day...of course sweat was dripping down my arms and legs but thats another matter.

I like Under Armor, it's very comfortable. As you said, you don't sweat through the shirt, the sweat drips down and soaks your shorts. When it's that hot, I untuck my shirt because you stay cooler that way.

Under Armour is in the starting lineup most of the time but I actually have a few of good old Clint Eastwood's brand "Tehama" shirts, pants, and shorts that are actually pretty nice.

1.  Wicking fabrics in shirts.  It's warm here from April through October, so they help keep me cool and they generally stay looking good.

2.  Cheap.  Sooner or later all of my golf clothes, especially pants and shorts, are getting stained either by mud or mustard.  I try to buy high-quality/name brand stuff either on closeout or at places like TJ Maxx.

Where's here?

Near Richmond, VA.  It's warm here, and I'm a fairly big sweater (sorry), so the synthetic breathables keep me cooler and don't easily show wet spots.

As a guy, I never thought in a million years that I'd be paying $20 for a single pair of underwear but the UA heatgear is worth it.  I like their shirts a lot too.
