Was fishing through the garage the other day and found some woods I used back in the 80's and 90's. Cleaned them up and here they are.

1987 or 88 MacGregor Tourney driver.

1989 or 90 Cleveland Classic 3 wood.

1989 MacGregor MT Tourney driver with an aluminum insert. I dropped a graphite shaft in way back when and it was a launcher. Graphite shaft was a Suntech Super Boron shaft.

And an old Ben Hogan Special 55 wedge. I'm thinking it's an 1986 or 87, not quite sure.

Wow, you dropped a graphite shaft into the Persimmon driver?  That is back when you didn't have everybody and their brother doing the cut and glue jobs in their garage.  Just like days of old, the true club builders still rise to the top.  That took some time to rewhip that head, and also to finish off the bore through.  Very impressive.  I remember a guy at a club in Phoenix back in the 80's that destroyed a beautiful Tony Pena one night when he was drunk and tried to refinish it.

Those are some truly impressive clubs.

Beautiful woods. Those aluminum insert MTs were neat. I remember them as much older than the 80s. I remember them as being early 70s and before. Not that it matters. What matters is they are sweet.

Thanks Jim. I hung a round a driving range in my late teens and the pro who worked there taught me how to do all that stuff. The whipping was the easy part of that.

I also found an old Cobra baffler that I forgot to post up.

You're probably right. I was just giving the year of the particular one I had. The grain lines are incredible. Maybe I'll take them to the range once this 16 inches of snow melts!!
