I play a set of 1982 Titleist blades almost all the time, I like them and they work.  Not much left for grooves but not really rusty and never abused.  Anyone else with me?

i play a set of wilson staff blades that were custom made for a tour player back in 1980. they are the '69 model heads, with several unique features. i love them. they work great. but i am sure there will be another set in the bag shortly

I really like to see this discussion on classic equipment!  Always go back to my '66 vintage Haig Ultra irons when the game goes bad.  Played them most of this past year.  Guess that tells you how poorly I played!  These are still the best irons I have ever played and I have used a lot of different sets over the last several years.

Thanks for starting this discussion.

I don't but my dad does.  Well, used to.  He was scratch, then gave up the game for fishing [smiley=furious.gif]  He has Persimmon woods, and some Sounder irons, and a classic blade putter.  I'll go check out exactly what they are tomorrow.

Whats in my bag...

Days when you just dont have it, you dont mail it in, you dont pack it in, you give it everything youve got. You grind it out. I dont care what kind of game you have, you somehow try and find a way to get it done. Youve seen me do it over the years. I should have missed many a cuts by now, but you just somehow figure out a way.

I have a number of classic sets I try out from time to time, but haven't quite gotten the nerve to actually play with them yet.

When I so, it will likely be with the Palmer Peerless or Hogan Radials I have stashed away...

Don't know how old they have to be to be considered classics, but I have an olld set of BeCu Eye 2s that are pretty old. Pull them out every once in a while when I'm hitting the ball bad. Then I always go back to the hardest thing I can find to hit.

Not necessarily classics, but I am playing a set of 1993 Wilson Progressive. I picked up the set off of ebay for next to nothing. Prestine condition.  They came with graphite shafts which I'll keep in over the winter but will throw the x100's in there come next spring. Something fun about playing with older clubs.

I've been fooling around with an old Ironmaster IMG MacGregor putter that my dad's had for years.

Love the feel of the thing, but it measures almost 37" and I think my dad would dis-own me if I cut it down.

I just put in play a set of Scratch Classic Blades. These things are really awesome. The quality of today's standards with the eye appeal of 20 years ago.

I play a custom ground set of 1986 MacGregor Muirfield irons.  Best looking set of blades I have ever seen.

Still have a set of 1979 Dunlop Maxfli Australian Blades I pull out on occasion.  One of the best shaped irons ever!! anbet.gif

Also have a 1960's vintage set of MacGregor MT85s that are mint and are soft as butter.  I like to keep them in good shape so they only see the fairway maybe once a year.

Those Aussie blades are awesome sticks. I have an old set too, but I am not a good enough striker to use them.

I still play a 1957 Wilson Staff Dynapower SW whenever I'm playing a course with fluffy sand. I've had that thing rebuilt 3 times.

I still play a Ping Eye 2+ lob wedge. I would consider them classics. Just the most sensational club out of bunkers ever made IMO.

I have a set of Ram Tour Grind Axial Persimmon woods... don't play them but I do play Ram scoring system wedges, still better than vokeys or Clevelands.

Ram made some classic clubs.

I play 1988 Hogan Redlines.  I love them.  I like the like the lofts of the older clubs....the Redlines are 49...45...Easy to get the ball up and very accurate.

I've got a set of wilson dyna-power staffs from 1961 that have been rechromed and shafted with DG lites that I use once ina while.  A gorgeous set of irons. Almost too pretty to use.   Been using my wilson FG 53's this season and I've just bought a set of wilson staff progressive's that should arrive tomorrow, and I can hardly wait. Just gave my FG17's to a good friend of mine last week.  As you can tell , I love classic irons and am thrilled to find this site yahoo

I'm with you there.  I just love looking at my set of BeCu Eye2's.  I may end up putting them in the bag next year.  My other faves are Hogan Apexes.  Currently have a set of the 88 Redlines, but it's been a year since I've played them.  Wintertime is when I get a chance to play these.  I'd say roughly 80% of my golf equipment budget go toward yesterday's equipment.  First, they're affordable and second, I just like the looks of older models over the new stuff.  Couldn't afford these two sets back in the late '80s when I first took an interest in the game (at least the equipment side, anyway), but now I find I can.  Kinda like running paths with your High School crush and she's looking as good as ever, but this time I have what it takes to make her mine.  And she will be mine!!!  LOL hunter

I'm playing a set of Titleist b-33's, but they are coming out of the bag as soon as I can afford something more forgiving.

I've been playing an assortment of stuff over the last several years.  Until recently, I putted with Wilson 8813/Tour Special or Cleveland Designed By, and normally play something from my collection of assorted Golden Ram Tour Grinds.

After reacquiring a Louisville Smart Driver, I'm close to putting persimmons in the bag, or at least giving them a real shot.  The bigger Ti heads have started to bother me, plus I've noticed I'm ridiculously more accurate with said persimmons, just like Elmore Just would've told you.   winkey   There's just something more fun about hitting "real" woods, at least for me.
