this will be an area that i am excited about. no one else has a forum quite like this. i believe that we will attract many "geezers" that like to shoot the shit about the classic implements of destruction.

I like the idea of a "classic" section.  I love the old school TaylorMade 5 series!  Those were the days!  Roll Eyes

Actually, I do like the classics.  But are we talking about 60's Macgregor blades or classics like 975D?

Hey Robby,
How does one go about finding out possible value for old clubs? I have some Haig Ultra irons, some Wilson Staff irons, and a Bullseye u4s putter that I know are 40-50 years old.    Jerry

it is tough to find a market value for those. if they are mint, the sky is the limit. you could get $500 - $600 for the irons. if they are less than mint, $250 - $300 tops. it really depends on the model of irons. the haigs are awesome irons. what model are the wilsons??

The Wilsons just say "dynapower"--don't see a model number. I also have the Wilson Staff 4300 series woods, some Wilson X-31 woods, and some of the Hogan "speed slot" woods. I've got a bunch of old stuff, I need to get it out and make a list.    Jerry

some of the dynapowers are the most sought after wilsons. some not. send me a pic and i will try and help you put a year model on them. you should make a list of you classic stuff. it would be a great way to kick off this area. and we could compare. i have quite the collection myself

The dynapowers are of the 1968-69 vintage--I won them in a tournament when I was in (gulp) high school!
Won the championship flight and the prize was $500, but I couldn't "jeopardize" my college elligibility!!! Which is tournament director talk for"let's give the kid a set of irons and keep the money!!" I have lots of old stuff---I'll try to find the time to make a list and take some pics. This "vintage" thing will be fun!               Jerry

BTW, Kerry, I'll keep an eye on Robby!!!...besides these irons are older (and maybe smarter) than he is! wink

Sorry Tee but you are not alone. I also have never hit a 975D.

Robby,
To be brutally honest (which I'm hopeful you want) this area does not interest me much at all. The only reason I'm in here at all is that I've got nothing to do and thought I would give your site a thorough look-see.  I've been into the other areas e.g. domestic, general etc. a number of times but this is my first foray into Classic.  Just doesn't interest me much, but that's just me.  That said, I'm sure those that are interested in classic equipment will be thrilled to now have a spot devoted to their interest.

I wish all of you guys would have had the opportunity to play the old MacGregor persimmon woods.  They were a work of art.   When you flushed one, nothing felt quite like the feel of persimmon.
