At a yardsale today, I passed up a Stan Thompson Ginty in mint condition. It looked unhit. $15. Should I be kicking myself?

I used to have one back in the day. It was a great club out of rough,I don't remember what ever happened to it. I think you should have bought it.

Probably. I had the plywood Ginty and a later Stainless version. The Ply was the better of the two. Best wood out of the rough, better than the later Cobra Raylors.
Last summer I could have bought a complete set, Ginty irons and woods for $40. I had never seen Ginty irons before, or since. Still kicking myself.

My neighbor gave me one he found at a dump a couple months ago. I shortened it and gave it to my wife. She loves it for getting out of the rough.

Ginty irons were horrible!  The leading edge Ginty sole did not work well.  They were placed well but the sell thru sucked!  a dual version of the Ginty sole would have most probably worked better.  And the Ginty metalwoods never worked well as the balled jumped off the face too fast (transfer of energy) and the COG was not low enough vs. the wood version.  It was all about the laminated wood version..it still sells today by Louisville Golf and Console Golf.

Yeah the irons looked like the Browning low profile type and the pronounced keel made them look even lower.
Just as an aside SBR in another thread mentions the new Taylor Raylor and it looks like the sole is Ginty inspired.
