Guinness
Some of the Gordon Biersch varieties: Marzen, Blonde Bock, Hefeweizen, Winter Bock, Czech Style Pilsner
Some of the Sam Adams varieties: Marzen, White Ale, Summer Ale, Winter Lager
Coors

I've got some Foster's to try as well. I'm trying to try a variety lately.

Dave
Bringing this one back, as I tried the Fosters and hated it.

Tried Bud's American Ale and liked it.

Tried Newcastle and REALLY liked it.

What else do I need to try?

I like your thinking.

I've never been too picky about beer until the micros blossomed.
Now, life is so full of variety. Then i even got bored with that.
Back to basics.
Becks lite, or dark.
Pilsner Urquell
Guinness Stout when its cold outside.
Negra Modelo when it's hot.
Or, really any beer that wont give me the next day "BUD MUD".
Every beer is a celebration, enjoy!

Fosters is piss foisted onto stupid Americans at Outback Steakhouse.   laugh

As for what to try...let's start with a few basic questions:
1) Malty vs hoppy - do you have a preference?
2) Light "session" beers, or big snifter beers?
3) Sweet vs. dry beers?

I loved Keith's, you just can't find it anywhere (outside of Canada). Is it even imported into the US?

You can buy it in North Dakota. I saw some there a few weeks back. Interestingly enough the bottles are different for the US market. Same with Molson's.

Dave

1) Hop forward beers to try:  Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Stone Brewing IPA, Boulder Beer Mojo.  For more advanced hoppy beers try Stone Brewing Ruination or Dogfish Head 90 Min. IPA (The 120 Min. is an acquired taste).
Malt forward beers to try: Belhaven Scottish Ale, Belhaven Wee Heavy (or anything labeled as a "wee heavy"), Orkney Skull Splitter, Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale
A blend of the two: Dog Fish Head Indian Brown
Most of the beers above should be available a good beer store.

2) The first list of IPAs are not so robust as to make you only want one, while the IIPA or a Wee Heavy can be a beer to enjoy for a prolonged sipping session

3) If sweet is what you want I suggest you find the best local packie and head to the Belgian section.  The Trappist beers are a safe place to start.  Just don't fall victim to the Flander's Red, or any other sour beer...unless you like to drink Balsamic vinegar.
Here's a few to try:
Saison DuPont Vieille Provision
Chimay Rouge
Rochefort Six
Van Steenberge Piraat

You'll need a very good beer store to have a good selection of Belgian beers, we have a store locally that carries a huge variety of them.

Have fun!

Sierra Nevada makes good stuff... the celebration ale is always nice to look forward to in the winter.

Dogfish Head makes a coupld of great IPAa (60 minute and 90 minute)... You should seek out the 90 minute IPA and give it a try... be prepared though... it's definitely an imperial IPA.
