I felt bad today that a good player and one hell of a nice guy fires the first 12 holes in 6 under and we were called in due to lightning.
Then the heavens opened up and rained hard for an hour and washed out the round.  I was a couple holes ahead at 1 under with a double bogey thinking I was doing pretty well since the course was already saturated, the wind was blowing steady 20mph and the greens ridiculously slow and soggy.

They have a policy in our city tournament that if the round cannot be completed by all members of a flight that all rounds are scrubbed.  Sad thing is it's now 80 degrees and sunny and has been for the last 3 hours.  I think they could have gotten it in but many would have been playing until 8 tonight because several groups had yet to tee off and wouldn't have gotten to do so until about 3:30 or 4:00.

Good news is that now I am back tied for the lead, of course so is everyone else Roll Eyes  But I guess it's better than being 4 or 5 shots back.

That's stupid. I can understand putting all the rounds on hold, but to erase them entirely? Not right.

Does your city tournament play on different courses for each competition rounds?

It's happened to me once during a 3 day city championships being played on 3 different courses, I had the lead on the 1st day after going out early in sunny weather, then found out that it was washed out due to heavy rains in mid afternoon. We had to play on a different course next day and there was no way that non-finishers could finish their round on the stipulated course on the 1st day. So they threw out all the 1st day scores.

That's exactly what happened to us.  No way to mark the ball and return as this course was saturated when we played and it got another two inches of rain or more.

I shot 70-70 (-3) and finished second 3 shots back.  Had the lead after a picture perfect 4 foot eagle put on 13, gave back the two shot swing on the next hole and then the guy who eventually won had his eagle on the 15th hole.  To his credit he played great today and did what needed to be done to win it.  I played the last 5 holes 3 over, choked a bit.  But I really can't complain too much I am pleased with a final round 70 under tournament pressure.

Hey look at this way, you did very well in this tournament. Have you ever won this tournament and I hope you've done it or can do it  someday!

I won Springfield, MO City Championship in 1995 over 3 days when I came back from 5 shots back on last day on course where they had Nationwide tourney to win by 1. A local TV station had a camera on me when I made a really difficult putt for eagle on par 5 11 hole that got me going on the back 9 that won the tourney for me. It was about 25 feet putt for eagle that broke about 3 different ways from a deep swale over a big hump that somehow dropped in the hole which I still don't know how it did it. I still have the videotape of that putt so I need to convert it to YouTube someday.

I did finish 2nd three times in other years where I lost in playoffs. That really sucked in my book. One year, I shot 66-70-70 and still lost in a damned 3 hole playoff.

I won Mishawaka City tourn twice and finished 2nd in South Bend and now twice second in Elkhart.  I'll get it before long. Still sick as dog so I really can't complain about 3 under in two days.

Update  I forgot to mention a very starnge thing happened on Sunday the guy that was 6 under after 12 teed off Sunday 7 shots back, he starts out eagle, birdie on the first two holes and shoots 44,  he's a good stick, hard to imagine he would shoot the next 7 holes 11 over on the front nine, not sure what he shot in the back.

Yep, that's right.

What do you think of Skip winning Mo Am today? He's damned good, isn't he?

At least I can claim a match win over him but he's so much better since that time.

I didn't know he had, but I am not surprised at all, he is just a great player.  He has probably locked up player of the year award again with qualifying of US Open sectionals and winning the Am and he still has the Mid Am left and he made it to match play last year.

Can you believe some of the scores that the Nationwide guys put up at Highland Springs, they just tear it up...

Not surprised because I didn't think it's that hard course. I was a charter member there from 1989 until 1994, played from back tees almost every time, gave me handicap of +3.8 only because I thought they rated the course too high. Rating 74.9 with slope of 143. No way I was a true +3.8 but it did sound nice at that time. LOL

Is Glen Echo CC that nice? Thinking about playing in Mid-Am there.

Never got a chance to play it but it is a classic and they rarely play courses that aren't great for those events, I would play if I were you.

Thanks, someone told me that it's an old classical course. So I guess everytime I play MO Mid-Am or Amateurs in STL area, I did well and might as well play in it, I guess I love those old courses in STL area. LOL Played at Bellerive CC a decade ago in MO Mid-Am and finished 3rd but did really well at STL CC in Stroke Play though.
