DAMASCUS ROCKS !!

« on: April 21, 2009, 01:05:13 AM »

I found this old Brad Faxon Titleist BF 96/2500 Wedge in a "lost n found" barrel at a local executive type 9 holer and it was destroyed. My Father laughed, "Kid I've seen you save some but this sucker is toast". I took that as a challenge.
Some idiot had been whacking rocks with it and it had chunks of steel missing, the face and grooves were toast, the chrome was chipped, blah blah, scrap. I'm way sorry I didn't take before pics of it but just picked her up and went to work one day. I repaired the missing steel and completely reshaped and rebuilt the head then sent her off to Jim of THEIRONFACTORY.COM the premier groover and chromer in the US. Rebuilt head, new face milling, new grooves, and new Tour Crome.

This is how she ended up, one of the prettiest wedges I've had the pleasure to restore, Let me know what you think...

She is now refitted with a new stainless ferrule that looks pretty clean

Thanks guys, Morgan

Now that Morgan is a fine bit of craftmanship. Classic design that looks like it just came off the pro shop floor. Very cool indeed.

When I first saw it was you that posted, I was afraid you were gonna slam me again. Thank you very much !! I don't know if it's worth anything but it's more of a work of love, bringing them back.

Thanks again, Morgan
PS- check the Slaz BC Series lefty that I started today in the next thread.

Great looking wedge!  Good job, but what kind of cost do you have in it? I love old forged blade irons and I had a set of Slazenger Crown Limited Blades rechromed about 10 years ago and it cost me a small fortune....

I think actual cash outlay for the face, grooves, and chrome was around $60. I didn't think that was bad. If anybody has a clue what it might be worth, I'm willing to sell/trade it.

Thanks much guys, Morgan

I plan on putting this one up on the block for sale.

Can anyone give me a ballpark of what to ask for it ?

Appreciate any help. Morgan
