Hey all, I was reading the Jan issue of Golf Digest and there is an article in the travel section by the "Frugal golfer". It says that most places he called, simply by asking gently would get the resorts to reduce the price half of the time. He says when the operator he was talking to would give him the price, he simply stated that it was more than he wanted to pay and could they do any better. Sometimes they were able to work it based on tee times or days they played. If somebody wants to take charge on this, maybe we can get people to commit fully and we can get lodging and golf packages? So far, we are talking about playing Cypress Ridge or Chalk Mountain (or maybe a different course) on Saturday and Monarch Dunes on Sunday. Some of us stayed at the Sea Crest last year in Pismo and it was a decent place for a decent price. I just did a quick search on Expedia and the Sea Crest looks like it's just over $100 a night for two nights (25% off for a two night stay). It looks like staying in the Santa Maria or Lompoc area is cheaper, but doesn't give you the beach access that Pismo has. Has anyone ever used www.golfpactravel.com? It looks like they only deal with San Diego and Palm Springs in Cali.

And excuse my poor manners Scott, but it was a pleasure seeing you and meeting your wife down here. Next time we will do Mt Woodson.

No worries. I was hoping to have some decent pics from your course, but I wasn't manning the camera and my wife put the camera away after I shanked two shots (the only two) while she was recording my swing.... It was good seeing some familiar faces (you and Sam) and meeting your wife as well.

April 4th and 5th 2009 central california coast saturday round open to suggestions, Saturday night at Jocko's. Sunday Grand Finale at Monarch Dunes in Nipomo. That is all. I am sure there will be more signing up as well as some dropping off, but it looks like a great turnout can be expected. Any help I can get bumping the thread on WRX would be appreciated. It gets buried in their double secret sub forums very quickly.

I will play wherever the consensus is. I have not played many of the courses down there, so if most think it's good, it's fine with me.

Its not a bad drive, nice scenery and if you get out of LA before the lunch traffic its a breeze.

I would say you could carpool with Keith, but if his wife goes as well, somebody would be sitting on somebody's lap for 4 hours....

Hey Keith! If that's me listed under FGI, thanks! If not, put me down (on the list please! ) under GD or FGI - your choice! I'm planning to make both days and may be down early enough to get a round in on Friday the 3rd in the late morning or early afternoon. Keep me posted if others want to try to get a Friday round in also! I've been planning on it since last year!! Great fun! Looking forward to seeing the alumni group from the First Annual outing last year and all the neewbies this year! Oh, almost forgot, and Jocko's! I missed that gluttonous experience last year! Take care!

10 miles away can be 4 hours in LA traffic. Kamtile, count me out of this. There is no way I am going to make it up there.

Saw this in my NCGA magazine today: http://www.monarchdunes.com/ncgaNCGA and SCGA members are able to play the 12 hole par 3 course before or after our round at Monarch Dunes for $10.
