We need an interesting EBay stuff thread. I was bidding on an oversized Bobby Grace MacGregor belly putter that I've never seen before. Rye, DrewSpin and I always email each other good looking old iron sets. We need a thread.
NO! We need a thread like that as much as I need a third nipple I just got back from vacation, so no equipment temptations for me, thank you very much.

Does that say John Deere under the 150th anniversary ?
Just got this club, it does indeed say "John Deere." Were I collecting, that may or may not be an issue, but I actually bought this to hit it. There is a certain coolness to a new persimmon with intact poly. A lot of the older clubs I've got have lost that by now.

Well, I managed to pull the inspection sticker off during my first round with the club. Interesting the feel difference between the MacGregor and my Ram persimmon, which I'm attributing to the shafts (Dynamic and Precision, respectively); the Mac feels harder, for lack of a better description.
Too bad I don't have wound balls around.

This item is a later remake. It may well have been given to Kocsis by Jones. I believe the gift of the putter was mainly a symbolic gesture by Jones and should not be taken beyond that. I just read that letter and it basically makes that putter worthless since it is a common retail version available to anyone off the street at that time. Sounds like Jones was a little put off by his audacity and directed him to the proshop counter.

The goosenecks were made in the 1990s IIRC, they do have more offset than most vintage staff blades.
Nice bag!

Minimal I'd bet.
Like Drew said, it's not minimal. They're actually kind of ugly in person, much larger than the FG17s or assorted others, with offset. Not Callaway type offset, but it's there.

Perhaps someday I'll get back to size 34. I'd bet those have the sweet change pockets too.

Hi all. I thought I'd share my treasures. After a 7 year hiatus from playing, I decided to find a set of forged irons (had a set of Wilsons from Sears back in the 70s) on Ebay. So far, I've been able to find these for under $700. Looking for clubs is almost more fund than playing. Hope you enjoy.

The Wilson Goosenecks were great forged irons. The clubheads were larger than traditional blade irons, and yes, there was sufficient off-set. Hey, off-set is NOT an ugly term as probably most of here could use it on our clubs! I had two sets of them both of which I re-shafted with TT Dynamic Gold Lites (first set) and TT TT Lite (second set). I wish I kept the first set. Well balanced clubs and very smooth response for me. Don't cut these clubheads short because Wilson stopped making them after a few years ('90-'92). They just didn't sell well, and a lot of people who try traditional blade irons (smaller heads) might benefit from this larger clubhead. Of course, ego gets in the way a lot of the time with us golfers!
