In the next few weeks we will be starting our new Channel Island testing Here are the rules Program Rules:PLEASE READ Each person will have 4 days with the test putter. Each list will have a maximum of 20 people. There will be a cost of $10 per person per demo. The cost will be used to self-insure the test program, defer some expenses, and to expand the number of test putters we are able to offer in the future. By signing up you agree to: 1) Take good care of the putter. 2) Ship the package in a timely and secure manner via USPS Priority Mail and to insure the shipping for $200. 3) Post some feedback on your experience with the test putter here. Can be a review, comparison or just thoughts. To sign up: 1) Send an email with "GD Channel Islands Test Putter" in the subject line to sales@byronputters.com, and include your name, shipping address, and screen name. [Each demo list will be managed separately, so if you want to get on the demo list more than 1 putter, please send separate emails.] 2) We will invoice you by email for the $10 fee (per demo), you can pay by credit card or pay pal. 3) We will set the order for the demo list and an approximate time-line. At the end of the demo program, the demo putters will be returned to us, and the 20 testers will be entered into a lottery for a chance to purchase the tester at a substantial discount. We will re-shaft to length, re-grip, and provide a new headcover to the person who buys the test putter. As we see how this develops, we will make any necessary adjustments to the test program.

There are probably enough differences with the design of the Nike Unitized Neo that it can't really be said to be a rip on the Channel Islands, but there are a few similarities. They definitely did not make any improvements to the looks, IMHO. Cheers, Drew

This will be what the test CI*1 will look like. You will be impressed. I might even say better than the black oxide

That thing looks AWESOME. That finish looks great because it isn't as dull as the oxide. How does it hold up?

It's the Cold Star plating and has been very durable in the batches that have been run to date. There is some color variation in batch-to-batch but these look really good to me.

Here is a CI*18. This one has the full sight line option. I am having Byron also make up one of these for our testing program.

I tested a couple of Byron putters during the last test round. I tested a Byron 006 and 007. The 006 was finished in Black Oxide and was a very nice putter. The 007 was finished with the Black Star finish and I have to say it is tremendous. Both putters exhibit outstanding craftsmanship and are truly works of art. I liked the 007 so much that it now resides with me! Byron Morgan makes some of the best putters I have ever had the pleasure of putting with.
All I can say is that the Byron demo program is a great way to test a tremendous putter. Had it not been for the program I probably would still not have had the pleasure of putting with a Byron Morgan putter.

Sam - thanks for sharing your experiences with the 006 and 007 and the test program.
I think several others have made similar discoveries after experiencing Byron's fine craftsmanship, which he translates into great looking and even better feeling putters.
The Channel Islands has a slightly different feel than the 006 and 007. Maybe it comes from the higher MOI, I'm not sure. I'm sure I sound like a pusher, but I'm just really excited to see the reaction to these when more people get a chance to try them out.

Drew or Steve - Do putters with this finish need to be oiled or is it pretty much maintenance free? Thanks!

GREAT looking putter. Reminds me of the SC Del Mar 3.5, hope you don't mind me saying so.

The reason it has the "18" designation is in homage to Terry McCabe who was the designer of the TPA-XVIII and other TPA putters. BTW, McCabe also designed the Titleist 975D driver and 681 forged steel irons used by Tiger Woods in 1997. The Del Mar 3.5 and countless others in the same style are in debt to McCabe for the design concept. We have obviously put a new twist on the location of the weight.
