Well I've decided to bite the bullet and go for a proper fitting. The Golf Academy at St Andrews, Trackman, Sam, etc for the full bag check as i really don't know what feels good anymore Any advice what i should look out for or any advice on fitting in general. Just interested as i had a bad fitting a year ago at a Callaway day and if they come up with those ideas I'm screwed! Cheers

The best advice I can give is to make sure you go to a fitter who carries a broad selection of components and OEM stuff, based on the direction you want to go. While I'll admit that all the Major OEM's will do more than a quality fitting, in most cases, I never recommend going to a fitting studio that is sponsored by only Titleist, Callaway, TM, etc. You're doing yourself a favor by comparing cross brands of clubs, balls, shafts to find out what fits you best and what's optimum for your swing. If you're getting fit on an outdoor range be sure they have a variety of "good" golf balls that you can hit as well. The ball fitting portion of your fitting is just as critical as the other components that you're fitted for. If they tell you that range balls are fine for fitting, run in the other direction. No person can fit or get fitted, with a substandard ball that won't replicate the characteristics that you want to achieve on the course....

Thanks for that Frank, I know they have a good quality selection of equipment and thier reputation is excelent. Probably one of the few things in St Andrews that isn't a rip off!

1. Ask to see their work shop. See what equipment they have in their shop. 2. Make sure they use impact stickers on the clubs. No fitting is complete without them. 3. Make sure they can explain each field on the launch monitor. Know what the data means. 4. Don't let the session go longer than 2 hours of hitting balls. Longer than that and fatigue will set in and your swing will be affected. 5. If they are building you a set of clubs, make sure they build you a test club. 6. Make sure you have a follow-up session with the test clubs. They should adjust club head weights (using lead tape, etc.) and use impact stickers to see the results of the change. 7. If possible, work outdoors at a range so you can see actual ball flight. 8. Get references from other clients if possible.
Good luck.

I have always had my best fittings after playing at least 9 holes first. Not just the range. Good luck and take some pixxx.
