Oh, it's still in the bag my friend...See pic 3 above. I have been switching off between the two. I don't know what was going on today, but I was hitting that D1 about 15 yards longer than I usually do and nothing was changed. It's a Frank Viola installed X-Con 5. I had some time to take pics today. I played in 1 hour and 45 minutes. First tee time of the day!  |

RYE:  What? Well, the Scratch wedges are brand new, I just got them and have not hit a ball with them yet. The X-Tour is new in the bag this year, so I have only been playing it since mid April. The X-Forged wedges are only two weeks old. So, I guess the photos are a little deceiving since they are new. JAY: I have found that at my home course, I really never use a 3W. It's the most difficult head for me to hit with any consistency. I find that I am just as accurate with any of the new high moi heads like the FT-i and D1. Off the tee and off the grass, I am just a tad shorter with the 18* Squareway. For me, I'll sacrifice the distance for the accuracy. Now, if I had some spare change, I would add the Squareway 3W into the mix. It's by far the easiest 3W I have hit with the ss 1.5 from Sonartec coming in at a close second. I added a 64* and really found that head to be of more use to me than the 3W. |

Actually, other than the new wedges, my X-20's show use on the soles and face, it's probably just the lighting. I do usually keep an real thin iron cover on the 52 & 64 to minimize chatter. But other than that, all the clubs show use. Hey, can't a guy try new clubs? |

For me, it always creates an awkward moment when I'm playing someone, and they lift their ball from the bunker and place a towel underneath it before skulling it across the green.  I'm kiddin' ... just got my own Scratch wedges from Frank. I'll update my WITB as soon as I'm back from Stockholm. |

Jim: Yes, I am leaving yards on the table, but those yards would be in the fairway to the left as opposed to just in front of the green straight! All of my Callaway equipment comes from their custom department. I have found that I play better with retail clubs than tour. Probably because they were made more for the average 11 HDCP, like me. Their customs department does great work, I have NEVER had a driver or iron build come too heavy or too light. I have a great contact (golf professional) who I ordered all the clubs in my bag through. I enjoy buying through a pro shop more than anything else. Plus, much cheaper than GG or Golfsmith. Rye: Yes, I wanted to try scratch for some time. That antique finish is probably the best finish I have ever seen on a head. I hope it holds up well. I look forward to seeing your bag pics. Now, as far as toweling me off, I am married. I do however keep a spare wedge in the bag for desert courses in Scottsdale. Their wash areas are pure rocks. In my opinion, it's senseless to hit a shot out of the wash. I did one year and it put the largest gash I had ever seen in the grooves. Now, I am talking about the coarse wash, not just the desert sand. |

That is a great looking bag. It looks very much like the bag I had for the past couple of years before selling out recently. You can not go wrong with Callaway equipment.

I have a feeling the forged family of Callaway clubs are going to get less and less forgiving for a hack like me. Therefore, I wanted a forgiving forged head before it became a thing of the past in Callaway's line-up. So, we'll see. Now, if the X-22 Tours are a forged release, I'll start to cry.  |

After two rounds: This is not surprising to me. I have demoed the 6 iron for the season and really believe these are a forged version of the X-20 Tours with a slightly thinner top line. I hit these every bit as well as the X-20's Tours, but the feel is that much better. I have noticed an increase in spin of the lower irons into the greens. I typically don't spin anything back into the greens with anything stronger than a PW. However, 7-9 also check and spin back on with these irons as well. The only variable for me was the Flighted PX. I have to say I am surprisingly impressed with these shafts, more than I thought I would be. They are a nice help with the 4-5 iron, nice high ball flight. Now, why didn't I get these 3 years ago is beyond me. |
