Again, it depends how you count putts from off the green/in the fringe, but yesterday I had either 27 or 25 putts while shooting my lowest score in years. I was walking 18 in 90+ temperatures with high humidity and unfortunately ran completely out of gas on the 17th hole but still, round of the year easy.

If you have a putter in your hands, it's a GIR and a putt. What'd you shoot biotch.

I thought you only count it as a putt when it's on the green itself? When you're able to mark and lift the ball. Otherwise it isn't counted as a putt.

You do if you're on the PGA Tour. If you're in the backwoods of West Virginia (which is redundant since all of West Virginia is backwoods) on a course with small greens, putts from the frog hairs should be counted as putts IMHO.

...on a course with small greens...
I actually like this criteria for determining what putts to count very much. I wonder how the greens at my home course compare with greens elsewhere in terms of size. Is it fair to say that newer courses feature larger greens? I know that the courses I've played in New England (almost totally old courses) all seem to feature microscopic greens. Anyway, shot a 66, with six birdies and three bogeys. Short course so I know it doesn't count, but it was as good a day as I've had in probably five years.

28 putts (or 30, depending on how you tally, although at least one of the putts wasn't from the fringe but fairway-ish length grass). I didn't put myself in position to make putts, so that total might represent one of my best ever days. No three putts. Eight one-putts. Two two-putt birdies (got on for eagle twice). Another good day. Huzzah!

Worst putting day in a while, three-putting three of the first four greens I hit, all of them muscled well by the hole. Then I calmed down, only three putted once more, then made an eagle putt on 17 that made it all better. Here's to sticking with it.
