DO THE JZ SHAFTS INDICATE "R" FOR REGULAR FLEX OR  "STIFF" ON SHAFT BAND???  JUST UPGRADED TO ISI K FROM KARSTEN IV (FINALLY AFTER 30 YEARS!) AND LABEL ON SHAFT ONLY READS:  JZ. SHAFT IS THE EARLY TYPE OF "MICROTAPER" BUT DO NOT FEEL AS STIFF AS THE K-IV W/ ZZ LITES.

ANYONE FAMILIAR?

OH MY GOD PRESS THE CAPS LOCK KEY BEFORE YOU POST AGAIN!

You said that they seem looser than whatever shafts you were swinging before. So, they're probably looser. How are you hitting the clubs though?

The JZ were the "heavy" weight tour shaft in the Ping lineup. Ping's shaft philosophy was of the light stiff kind and the jz was a departure from that. There was a demand for a heavier smoother feeling shaft. The ZZ on the other hand was a harsh stiff lightweight I thought.
Karsten to my knowledge did not use a R,S rating at that time. You simply switched to another line of their shafts.

Their new line up of shafts does reflect a R,S rating. I play their cslite in S flex, though it is available in R as well.

The original JZ shafts ultimately became the JZ-S when they introduced the JZ-R a while later.

The JZ (and JZ-S) appear (appeared?) to be somewhat softer than DGS, IMHO.

Classic Ping always had great heads and shafts ill fit for the average golfer. Do yourself a favor and put some Dynamic Gold or Rifles in them. You will be amazed at the performance difference.
