Hi,
Sorry. Don't understand what you meant by "Nippon 950s run a little weak to flex if normally installed" How else can they be installed?
Yes, the triject is rather high and the ball really bite on the green. Any other steel shaft that I should consider?
I know if I bend the loft to stronger, I amy affect my loft and hit fat shot more often. Any suggestion to overcome this?
Thanks!
Ant
Two Things.
1. Nippon 950s run a little weak to flex if normally installed. They also tend to get the ball higher and have a midkick point. They usually work best for smooth tempos from all of my reading and experience.
You may be getting more launch, more spin and more height than your former shaft - cutting down on your distance.
2. The MP-60 head may also be up to a club less than the irons you once used - check the lofts of your old irons versus the MP-60s. But some clubs are just a little shorter than others even given similar lofts.
You would benefit from a fitting.
Without that, it's hard to pinpoint the issue --
If you want to keep the clubs, you can state your complaints to your retailer who can relay them to Mizuno; were you fitted by a Mizuno Rep or Retailer? If so, they may replace those shafts with something else.
Ant -- a clubmaker can hardstep the shafts -- Put the PW Shaft in the 9i, the 9i shaft in the 8i, the 8i shaft in the 7i, etc.
That effectively makes your tip a little stiffer and will get you a slightly lower launch. Of course, hardstepping with the shafts you have now is tough because they are cut to length and putting your current PW shaft in your 9i will make the club shorter -- so if you explore that idea, you either get new shafts or extensions.
You might have a clubmaker take the 8i shaft and put it in your 7i - have him extend it 1/2 inch, and try it on the course - see what happens -- it might be your answer. If it works, get the Nippons hardstepped.
