Alright, alright, keep your thoughts on golf. I bought a beautiful Odyssey Black Swirl #1 Proto and want to know what is best for keeping it clean and shiney. It is black nickel. Oil cloth? Borax-O? Steel mesh? Seriously, any suggestions would be appreciated.

A water rinse and dry after each round and practice session.
A drop of gun oil and rub it allllll over after the drying.
As you get swirling on the sole, some light metal polish will take out most of the swirls.

Baby Oil on a clean soft towel works as good as anything and doesn't leave that rancid smell that a lot of other oils do...

Forgot to add that I use Turtle Wax, hard shell Canuba on the soles of all my putters. Helps protect them from a lot of the smaller scratches I used to get... http://waxdepot.safeshopper.com/175/774.htm?548

The best thing is to make sure it is dry and wipe it with the silicone cloth (or any of the ideas above) as soon as you come off the course.
Don't stick it in the trunk of your car wet and wait until later to clean it up.
I keep a silicone gun/reel cloth in the bag and before the bag goes in the truck the putter gets dried with a towel and wiped down.
You would be amazed how quickly things can go south - especially once you get a couple of nicks in the finish.

I appreciate all the good suggestions. Anybody else seen these putters? In the words of Borat, "Very Nice!"

the only way to Polish a putter is to slice 6"of Kielbasa length wise, duct tape to either side of the putterhead and let hang for 4 days.Unwrap, wipe off and play.

Actually no, no it hasn't. I was yet to contribute 1st suggestion tie your putter grip to the tow ball of the car and drive home from the club.....let nature do it for you 2nd suggestion is to get something really expensive that goes wrrrrrrrrr.....really really fast. Works a treat M. Have a moojo...I'm really a good guy.

Going to play dumb here. can you please explain number 2 Ouch that hurts..... Wrrrrrrrr, you know kind of sounds like bzzzzzz or brrrrrr only faster. Usually attached to round looking thingy on the flat seat looking benchy thing. There is 1/2 a flattened dead cat on one end that soft and cuddly and you rub up against it till things get shiny and like new.... It works on the same concept as a vibrator, but its bigger and fluffier.... I call mine the fluffmeister.....

Remember, a putter with black Ni is very similiar to gun bluing, or nickel on a firearm. I would not put anything abrasive on it. You would'nt take steel wool to your favorite nickel pistol would you? It will cause fine scratches that eventually deteriorate the finish. Go and get some MilTech oil. WORKS WONDERS on my guns, and it will keep it slick. Use a very soft horse hair brush to get the dust off of it, then oil it down with an old T Shirt or something so the oil deposits will be uniform.
