I made a point of not seeing it. I still don't think she's done anything to warrant all the media attention she continues to get. Hell, five-time Tour winner Paula Creamer doesn't get anywhere near the attention that Wie still gets.

This is from some guy that writes for a paper in Hawaii. If they are dogging her, it must be really bad.

http://starbulletin.com/2008/02/25/sports/arnett.html

Wie Team continues on path to disaster

It's easy to pile on the Wie Team. Nobody will bother to throw a flag for unnecessary roughness, unsportsmanlike conduct or personal foul.
This last year was a how not to do things in the high profile world of the LPGA and PGA tours. The threesome caused quite a ruckus at nearly every golf tournament Michelle entered in 2007, even drawing a frosty retort from former world No. 1 Annika Sorenstam.

Still, they went through golf events with a style reminiscent of Tom and Daisy Buchanan, from "The Great Gatsby," leaving representatives of the William Morris Agency to clean up the debris. These days, the Wies would have us forget all that if we'd let them; but our memories aren't programmed to remain only in the present.

Hearing Michelle in an interview session is like listening to a robot that's been told what to say. What made her so charming as a young girl, before the handlers stepped in to screw it all up, is you never knew what might fly out of her mouth. She was a natural.

Now, some folks in the media room look at one another and smirk or shake their heads in disbelief as Michelle reels off statements like, "It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. ... I felt like I accomplished my goal of staying in the present. ... My goal is not to think about last year. ... Like I said, I'm not going to think about last year. ... Like I said, my goal is definitely to stay in the present."

Yikes. It's enough to make you want to get up and run out of the room screaming, "Who is responsible for this?"

Who, indeed?

Unfortunately, it's not any more imaginative on the golf course. After opening with a 69 on Thursday -- that should have been six shots worse -- Wie's game of the recent past didn't let her forget a thing. The once-fluid swing that earned her the nickname "The Big Wiesy" by Tom Lehman, is gone.

The replacement has some kind of hitch in the giddy-up at the top of the back swing that has turned her into a NASCAR driver -- always going left. Galleries on that side of the fairway had best watch the heck out or an errant golf ball just might land on their head.

GRANTED, IT would be unfair to expect Wie to walk off the Stanford campus and swing with Paula Creamer from Day 1. She is not in tournament shape, as her final two rounds at the Fields Open clearly suggest. And you'd expect it to be that way.

But the reason why Wie was able to cash a $20 million check in the first place several years back, was her ability to compete without the benefit of daily competition on the two major tours. Almost making the cut at the Sony Open as a 14-year-old led to a whirlwind tour toward disaster.

Of course, it's easy to say that now, but many have been all along. A child prodigy who once filled the concert halls is now banging on the piano like a first-year student. Balls are flying all over the place. Family and friends offer their support, but this has become the classic case of too much, too soon.

Sad as it is, it is what it is and it isn't good. If you can't do any better than finish near the bottom on your home course, it's time to reevaluate and learn from the past, not forget it.

Ma and Pa Wie wanted to live in the dorm.  shutup

http://steveelling.blogs.sportsline.com/mcc/blogs/view/6267041

Wie are fam-i-lee

PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- Don't ask where this juicy bit of tid emanated, because I'm not saying. Suffice to say that it's from a source who is very much in a position to know. Unimpeachable, really.

It's not exactly news that the parents of Michelle Wie are meddlesome and have perturbed many over the years with their ever-heightening demands for special consideration, if not for firing capable caddies or burning out agents at a breakneck pace, but this establishes a new threshhold for parental interference.

As nearly everybody knows, Wie is in the midst of her first year at Stanford, where under school edict, she is is required to live in the freshman dormitory. This is where the story begins.

First, her parents asked school administrators if the rule could be waived so that Wie could live off-campus with her parental unit.

Stanford: No.

Second, the parents asked if she could be granted a room of her own. No annoying roommate, in other words.

Stanford: No.

Finally, the Wies asked if they could live in the dormitory with her.

Stanford: Hell, no.

The textbook definition of overbearing parent just reached a new level. If "low" is a level, anyway.

Time to place a restraining order on her parents. I feel sorry for her dorm mate. Poor girl will need years of therapy to overcome her bad living situation.

I took that class in college and shortly dropped it after a failed attempt to do the worm which resulted in a couple stitches and a split lip.

Yeah, I had pretty much already assumed they had done all of the above, but I think the confirmation of it is actually worse.

I'm surprised the Wies didn't work all that stuff out beforehand. If they wanted special living arrangements they could have found a college willing to comply. It probably stunned them that Stanford wouldn't just roll over for Michelle like the LPGA always did.

Their arrogance has grown with their bank accounts, Nike and Sony have led them to believe they can get whatever they want without justification so why not Stanford.

Wie receives Kingsmill exemption

GOLFWEEK STAFF

Michelle Wie has accepted a sponsor’s exemption to play in the Michelob Ultra Open May 8-11 at Kingsmill in Williamsburg, Va.

Wie competed in the 2004 Michelob Ultra Open as an amateur and tied for 12th.

“I was pleased with my performance on the River Course when I was there a few years ago and look forward to another great competition at the Michelob Ultra Open,”  Wie said in a released statement.

Wie has played in one LPGA event this season, the Fields Open in Hawaii. Wie opened that tournament with a 3-under 69, but followed with rounds of 73-78 to finish tied for 72nd. She earned $2,570.

Why?! I just don't get it... is she really still a draw for these tournaments? I mean, sure, she has galleries following her around still. But how many of them are doing so just to watch the train wreck happen? How many extra patrons is she still bringing through the gates? I continue to be dumbfounded by these sponsors willing to throw an exeption at her still.

Wie reinjures wrist, WDs from Safeway

GOLFWEEK STAFF

Michelle Wie announced today that she is withdrawing from the Safeway International after tweaking an injury to her left wrist while practicing last week in Palo Alto, Calif.

“I am extremely disappointed,” Wie said.

She reinjured her wrist when she accidentelly hit a ball embedded in thick rough at Stanford’s driving range. She consulted a doctor at Stanford and visited a hand specialist in Los Angeles March 17. The injury, which was diagnosed as a sprain, is not considered serious, according to Jill Smoller of the William Morris Agency.

The Safeway International, which will be played March 27-30 in Arizona, had granted Wie a sponsor exemption.

Wie shot 69-73-78 in the Fields Open to finish T-73 in her only start of the year.

Johanna Head will take Wie's place in the field.

This is better than her quitting halfway through like usual. At least another player gets the spot.

That must be some rough at the Stanford range.  My whole course doesn't have a spot of "thick" rough that could injure a wrist. russian

I am betting she hurt it trying to learn the "kickworm" for JayLasVegas during her Hip-Hop Dance Course and her handler's just came up with the latest excuse!  laugh

It is possible that Michelle has a future career as an attorney.

Here are Michelle Wie's thoughts at the Samsung on leaving the Ginn Tribute (Annika's Tourney) earlier in the year:

"I still don't feel like I did something wrong but if I felt if Annika, or anyone felt like I disrespected them, or if I done anything wrong to them, you know, I do apologize for that. But I don't really feel like I've done anything wrong as with myself."    shocking

?

You know what I just realized?  Michelle has a long lost sister!!

And a new swing coach!!
