(Note that I am not implying that I am good enough to PLAY a 1 iron)
I was down at my local Golf Galaxy and there was a Hogan Apex Grind 1 iron there for $20. Last winter I played Apex Grind irons (2 through E) to improve my ball striking. It worked quite well, but I'm still a little iffy on my long irons. I am considering picking up the 1 iron to fill out the set, but more importantly to have an even harder to hit iron than the 2. I think I will have to buy it, because it is just too much of a coincidence that I find an Apex of the right vintage (Grinds were 90-92) and with the shaft that matches my irons (Apex 4). Besides, I have credit with them from a driver that I returned, so it's not even real money. $20 is pretty cheap for a training aid, but is almost as much as I paid for the rest of the set ($25 with some crappy woods, putter, and a nice Powerbilt SW).
Well, hopefully if I go back to buy it someone won't have snatched it up. You know how much of a seller's market it is for 1 irons these days!
