You play your shot toward the green, and the walk toward green before your opponent/fellow competator plays his shot. When he's ready to play, you stop and set your bag down. He hits and unexpected snap-hook, right toward your bag. You grab your bag out of the way just in time as the ball rockets past.
Have you incurred a penalty for moving your bag while your opponent's/fellow competator's ball was in motion?

I don't think you can get a penalty for moving your bag b/c like I posted in the other forum if his ball hits your bag its a penalty on you. I can't tell you how many times I played highschool golf and picked my bag up off the ground so one of my playing competitors terrible chips wouldn't hit it...

No you don't, not if it is your equipment. if they move the flag or something like that THEN they get a penalty. Don't ask me how I know.  |

I am nearly positive that you don't get a penalty for moving you equipment. not sure why. I know you don't get one for moving your own, I don't know about other people's. If your bag is just sitting there and it gets hit by the other players chip I think it's two strokes. -Lucky7 |

Dave, this one would be covered by 19-4, which points you straight back to 19-1 (Outside Agency), if your equipment or yourself is hit by your opponent/fellow competitor. There is no penalty to you for grabbing your bag out of the way of a moving ball, or for jumping out of the way yourself!
