I'm Going Off The Rails On A Crazy Train...

Thanks Rob - being semi-new here, I'm not sure what Moojo is, but thanks!

Could I create a post dedicated to this? I would like to debunk alot of the rumors going around regarding the Orlimar // Fury QB.

ps - the moojo is just an acknowledgement of a good/bad post. It takes 10, last I knew, to use the instant/private messaging here and possibly one or two other things.

$299.99 MAT pricing

The price on this makes it look even better. Thanks for posting it.

At the moment it appears to be available from King Par (who bought Orlimar in 2003).
Unfortunately they do not list shaft or options.

Saw at GolfSmith: it had the V2 shaft

On a separate note, just tried out the Intech Ripper (I guess considered Orlimar's more generic red-headed stepchild) on the course today and I was impressed with it, even my wife who was playing with me was impressed on it's distance. I'm a high handicapper at the moment (20+) and currently using a TM 460 draw with 13 degree head and an upgraded Aldila NV 75S stiff flex shaft (I originally got this since I needed fast help with my slices and to get the ball up in the air easier since I had a slow swing speed in the beginning). Now that I'm better handling my swing with a driver I've been looking for a lower lofted driver (10.5-11 degrees) with a regular flex since the 13* driver I have pops up in the air too much nowadays.

So I busted out the Ripped on the first par 4 288 yarder on the course (I did the same course the day before with my TM) and hit the ball square on to about 235 yards which was on track the same distance I did the other day with my TM but actually a bit straighter. Good launch angle and good flex on the generic Aldila shaft. I used the driver on about 3 more holes and actually got maybe 10+ yards more than the prior day. Now this is probably that we were on a slower pace so I was able to line up my drives better and got my swing on a groove. There was one hole that I took a couple extra drives to see how much I could belt the Ripper and I got a couple "thunk" sounds but they still went about 150+ yards and stayed pretty fairly on the course. The big positive I can say about the driver is that even though it's square it sounds like my TM driver with a nice medium pitch "click" sound when hit properly down the fairway and none of the aluminum bat sound as the Sumo2 and FT-i. I'm going to try out the club on my driving range tomorrow to get a more accurate feel for it as well as what the consistent  yardage I can pull off with it.

I posted on the new topic regarding the Fury/Cube/Ripper driver exactly what materials differ from the Fury vs. the Ripper/Cube to get the price for the generic counterparts to $40 vs. $250.

p.s. Though the headcover is pretty weird looking, it actually pops on and off superfast compared to the sock covers, the only thing I see that might go bad is the locking mechanism that attaches to the shaft might wear down and stop clasping to it or that the shaft area it locks into might start scuffing. I'll try and take pics tomorrow since it surely looks like the Fury and I think they should have made some minor cosmetic changes to the Fury or the Ripper/Cube body more to show more of a difference between the $40 vs. $250 version better.

Just saw at Sports Authority an Orlimar branded version of the Affinity Cube driver. I thought King Par was trying to keep the Orlimar Fury as the high-end version of their square club and the Affinity Cube and Intech Ripper as the budget clubs. The “Orlimar Tri-Cube” looks just like the Affinity version with just a different stucco-like Adila blue shaft. The Affinity version was going for $40 and the Orlimar version was about $80.

Oh, and I’m looking to sell the Ripper. While it has helped with accuracy getting me onto the fairways more, compared to my old R7, I lost about 15 yards off the tee which I need.

hey, I am just bumping this topic up, because I was just looking at the King Par Ripper the other day and was wondering if anyone else had some experience with this, I think it is about $40 so I should probably just try it out for myself, but if it is garbage than 40 bucks is 40 bucks, thats 9 holes and a round of drinks  winkey

if I was not supposed to bump up really old thread, I am sorry, I just figured seeing you guys were already talking about it at one time, then I wouldnt make a whole new thread about it.

Pass on anything Orlimar Related and buy a real club - a major OEM club - in the $50 range.

Looks like Jesse Ortiz' last driver at Orlimar -- that should be good -- pricey though.

His Bobby Jones is just an evolution of that one -- and less $$$.

ok, my brother has a nike lucky 13, i like it but the price is steep. our mutual friend has the integra idrive and its kool too. i wanted to get either for my own replacement but i didnt want to have what they had., its gay for me to say " hi, guys check out my new driver and its a nike lucky 13" or whatever. so, i am currently waiting for my orlimar fury QB driver in the mail. just purchased online before posting here, so i already added it to my signature. i spent alot of days researching square drivers, and once purchased i went to join the forum with many orlimar threads, which ended up being this forum. my old driver was a adams ovation 9.5 degree with fujikura stiff tour shaft which was pulled from the cleveland hi-bore.
i will update with my review when i get to use it.
thanks,
dave

well i had the chance to test out a friends before buying my own. didnt fit my style, i am basically a one plane swinger. what i did since then is borrow my brothers nike lucky 13 driver. basically, i have decided that i am not going to get a square driver, not yet. but last week i picked up a new cleveland launcher irons set and a taylormade r510 driver. the irons were $200, and the driver was $100, both on ebay. this r510 is wicked long, there is even a unconforming model which is longer i suppose. check ebay for pics and check google for comments.

I hope not !
